 Hi!

I’m Charnie — a Cape Town based makeup artist, hairstylist, and the face behind Makeup by Charnie. 

 I’ve been doing makeup long enough to know what actually works — not just what photographs well for Instagram. 

With experience across TV & Film, Weddings, Photoshoots & events, I understand lighting, skin, timelines, pressure, and the reality of working with real people who have real expectations. 

 My work is versatile, but my philosophy is fixed: makeup should enhance, not overpower. I tailor every look to the face in front of me, focusing on skin, structure, and proportion — not copy-pasting trends that don’t translate in real life or on camera. 

 I take my work seriously, but I don’t take myself too seriously. 

I show up prepared, stay calm, and keep the energy easy — because the experience matters just as much as the end result. 

 With over 6 years of professional experience in TV & Film, I’ve worked on high-pressure sets where precision and consistency truly matter. My credits include Showmax (Wyfie S1 & S2), KYKNET (Eenkeer Om Die Son S2, Boer Soek ’n Vrou S15, BRAVO), VIA productions such as Minki and Wies Nuus, among many others.
